Creating a Growth Mindset to Improve Student Learning
How students perceive their abilities plays a major role in their motivation and achievement. Students who believe their intelligence can be developed (a growth mindset) outperform those who believe their intelligence is static (a fixed mindset). Designing learning tasks in a way that helps students develop a growth mindset leads to short-term achievement and long-term success. In this session, participants will develop an understanding of the characteristics of having a fixed mindset and a growth mindset; reflect on their own personal mindset as a learner and educator; and, learn new tips to promote growth mindset.
