Leveraging Tech Tools to Support Special Education Students

Every teacher has students with special needs in their classrooms and leveraging various technology tools can help teachers support their individual needs. In this session, teachers will learn how to leverage technology tools to support Special Education (SpEd) students in their class. Teachers will also examine how specific tech tools can be used to differentiate and provide scaffolding supports to learners in their classrooms.

Jennifer Bernier is a Transformation Manager for LINC. She is a presenter and blended learning coach working across the country with schools and teachers on a mission to transform education through teacher and student empowerment and innovative classrooms.

Ashley Clark is a Transformation Manager for LINC. Prior to joining the LINC team, Ashley was a 5th & 6th grade math teacher in Baltimore City, MD. She considers herself a pedagogical problem-solving cheerleader for educators everywhere, helping teachers shift their focus from lecturer to facilitator of learning, and putting students at the heart of the classroom.

Seeing and Supporting What’s Not in Front of Us

Cassondra Thaddies

Now that months have passed in remote learning settings, what are we noticing as indicators of authentic, engaged learning versus disconnected or obstructed learning? How can we recognize student struggle and support students while in remote and hybrid learning when they are not in front of us?

About Connection Sessions: Participants will engage in highly interactive and participant-centered discussions. Each connection will begin with a “Spark!” question and evolve authentically from there.

Cassondra Thaddies is a passionate mother and educational leader who has worked with adult learners for over 24 years to create a shift in mindset and educational practices that produce equitable learning experiences for all students and especially students of color. She has worked with Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education as a contributor to the design and course development of a 21st-century learning platform for adults. As the Director, Transformational Coaching, Cassondra leads a team of expert Transformation Managers who provide coaching support to school and district leaders across the country. Cassondra earned her undergraduate and master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in Sociology and Health and Human Services with a special interest in technical communication, diversity, and equity. She is a senior facilitator with the Anti-Defamation League, the founder of the Florida non-profit, Connect to Greatness, Inc., and a Ph.D. candidate at Keiser University, Florida.

How do you currently prepare yourself for the workday? Taking time to start the day with some self-care and mindset work is helpful in setting the tone for how you would like to show-up throughout the day. In this session, participants will learn strategies for putting connection before content. Join this session to start creating ways to (self)-connect and become present before jumping into the day!

Planning a Station Rotation for Home & School

Teachers are being asked to plan instruction for students in the “concurrent” classroom where some students are in the classroom and some students are at home. In this interactive workshop, learners will examine the Station Rotation model, engage in various Station Rotation examples, and plan to implement a Station Rotation at school or at home. This session is designed to support educators who are currently teaching in or planning for hybrid and concurrent classrooms.

Rohiatou is a dance educator with over a decade of experience in both traditional school settings and renowned performing arts institutions. In addition to teaching, she has coached arts, world language, and athletics teachers at the elementary and middle school levels. After receiving her B.F.A in Theater Arts/Dance from her beloved Howard University, Rohiatou graduated from Lincoln Center Scholars’ inaugural cohort and recently obtained her Masters in Educational Leadership. Nathalia Montoya is LINC’s Operations Manager. Nathalia is a 200 RYT Certified Yoga Instructor. She has been guiding yogis for nearly sixth years and loves to teach vinyasa and other fun variations coupled with exercise.
